When link names are too cumbersome…

Sometimes when we link a document or website to something else, it makes a nasty looking URL. Especially when sharing links with students and parents, we want the links we share to be user friendly! We have a little-known and easy to use resource at our fingertips…Shortlinks! Go to http://sl.g.kpbsd.org/ Here you can actually create a new and simpler name for any URL. There are only 2 boxes: 1. enter the URL that you want to create, 2. enter the actual URL. Then press “Add Shortlink” and you are done. This is a useful way to shorten a URL and make it useable for your audience.

For example: http://e10661.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/wpmu/2010/09/22/when-link-name…too-cumbersome/ could become http://sl.g.kpbsd.org/shortlinks
